Title: “BRAF gene mutations in odontogenic lesions: a molecular biology analysis”. Mentor: Professor Corrado Rubini, Department of Biomedical Sciences and Public Health - Pathological Anatomy Institute. -15 th November 2018: Qualification as Dentistry Professional, Ancona, Italy, with final mark 60/60. -October 2018 – ongoing: Dentistry at S.O.D Odontostomatologia Chirurgica e Speciale, Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Ospedali Riuniti Ancona Umberto I, G.M. Lancisi, G. Salesi. Department aimed at the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Odontostomatologic pathologies in patients with different abilities and in patients with osteonecrosis associated with bisphosphonates. Prevention, diagnosis and treatment of odontostomatologic pathologies in disabled patients, specially referred Down's syndrome. Clinical activity: diagnosis and treatment of odontostomatologic pathologies in various hospitalization regime. Sectors of interest: benign and malignant lesions of the oral cavity, salivary glands pathologies, reconstructive surgery of the jaws, implant surgery, oral surgery, piezoelectric surgery, laser surgery, orthodontics, endodontics and conservative in “ special needs” patients. Outpatient activity: basic specialist visits, emergency visits, dental laboratory linked to the activity of the department, oral hygiene in “special needs” patients. -A.a 2018/2019 – ongoing: Scholarship by Professor Rubini Corrado (Associate Professor of Pathological Anatomy at Department of Biomedical Sciences and Public Health at Polytechnic University of Marche, Ancona, Italy. First Level Medical Director with High Specialization in Maxillo-facial pathology at S.O.D. Anatomia Patologica, Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Ospedali Riuniti Ancona Umberto I, G.M. Lancisi, G. Salesi) Collaboration for research projects with Professor Santarelli Andrea (Associate Professor of “Special Odontostomatologic Pathology” at Department of Clinical Specialistic and Dental Sciences, Marche Polytechnic University, Ancona. First level UOC Director of Clinica Odontostomatologica I.N.R.C.A) and with Prof.ssa Orsini Giovanna (Associate Professor at Department of Stomatology and Specialized Clinical Sciences, Polytechnic University of Marche, Ancona, Italy. Italian Representative Management Committee COST Action CA16234, European Cleft and Craniofacial Initiative for Equality in Care). Main lines of research: Detection and identification of allelic variants (WNT10A, PTCH1) in patients with Ectodermal Dysplasia using molecular biology techniques (Gene Sequencing) in saliva samples for early detection of dental agenesis. Study of salivary glands aplasia / hypoplasia and abnormalities of salivary conduction system in patients with oral and palate cleft and other manifestations of Ectodermal Dysplasia-Cleft syndrome. Assessment of PTCH gene and of human protein TP63 in Ectodermal Dysplasia-Cleft syndrome to evaluate their role in aetiology of facial clefts, with molecular biology techniques (Sanger Sequencing e Sequenom MassARRAY System). Immunophenotypic and biomolecular characterization of tumors and odontogenic cysts of the maxillary bones to assess the molecules involved in cell differentiation and proliferation processes. Specially, assessment of the BRAF gene and BRAF V600E mutation in odontogenic tumors and cysts: study of prognostic and biological role of BRAF gene through molecular biology techniques (PCR, Pyrosequencing and direct sequencing, FISH and Mass Spectrometry Technique/Sequenom MassARRAY System) and experiments of gene transfection on immortalized cell lines, providing biological basis for the development of personalized targeted therapies. Immunohistochemical and genetic expression analyses of NNMT gene in oral melanoma and odontogenic lesions to study the molecular and metabolic role and lay the foundations for future identification of new therapeutic strategies based on targeted therapies . Neoplastic pathology of the salivary glands: study project on the role of the Caderine-family (E and P- Caderina) and Catenine-family (beta, gamma and p120) in the carcinogenesis of malignant salivary gland neoplasms. -Ongoing: Active participation in awareness campaigns and oral health prevention for the general population. Organization of educational paths in primary education schools and of courses for dentistry students. Publications. -Mascitti M, Togni L, Balercia A, Balercia P, Rubini C, Santarelli A.
